About the Guide

My name is Lawrence Piper and I'm a licensed USCG Captain with a "six-pack" license. I do all "back water" fishing trips using light tackle (mostly) and fly gear (sometimes) and we fish the rivers, creeks, and marshes on the west side of Amelia Island, fishing for Redfish, Seatrout, Flounder, Sheepshead and Black Drum. We often catch other "junk" fish, but they can be fun to catch, too - Sharks, Ladyfish, Jack Crevalle, etc.

I've been guiding since 2007.

The boat is a 2003 Angler Grande Bay with a 2022 Yamaha 200 engine. This boat is very wide with high gunwales and is very stable - great for older and younger anglers! I call it "Vintage"! It's got some dings and dents so I'm not so worried about it getting some mud or fish blood on it.  I use a Minnkota 112lb thrust I-Pilot trolling motor with the Spot-Lock feature to work along a bank or likely spot while anglers cast to the shore line. We get in a lot of casting!

I owned an operated a local Telcom company for 23 years, sat on the Board of a community bank for a number of years, did a one year stint at the Chamber of Commerce as President, served in a couple of service clubs, and coached YMCA girls basketball, so I'm well rounded in my "people" skills- I'll do everything I can to make sure you have a fun fishing trip.

Captain Lawrence is a passionate professional. Safety is first and catching fish is second. He try’s his best to get fish on. He will help those that need assistance casting, baiting up or removing fish from hooks . He is not bashful about running to the next spot to try out. He treats clients as if they were the only thing on his mind in that moment. After several try’s at finding a guide, we found one. Give Lawrence Piper a try. He performs.
Till next time , tight lines and be safe
