Things to Do

Fort Clinch State Park
If you like history you'll enjoy visiting Fort Clinch State Park
Fort Clinch is one of the most well-preserved 19th century forts in the country. Although no battles were fought here, it was garrisoned during both the Civil and Spanish-American wars.  In addition to the fort, there are great hiking, bicycling and fishing opportunities.

Go Crabbing!
Purchase a crab net with a long handle from Amelia Island Bait and Tackle.  Get a couple of chicken necks from Publix across the street.  Tie  20' piece of string to the chicken neck.  Go up to Fort Clinch and park at the Fort, walk around to the river, and toss the chicken neck out into the river.  Wait a while then drag it back slowly!  If you've got a crab holding on to the chicken neck, scoop it up with the crab net!  Take a lounge chair, a bucket, and some cold beverages. Beware of swimming - the current is very fast!

Amelia Island Museum of History
This is a great little museum, located downtown on South 3rd Street. They were the first spoken history museum in the state of Florida. The museum continues their story-telling tradition with a variety of tours that cater to many interests and age levels. Walking Tours and Docent-Led Museum Tours are scheduled regularly. Alternate tour times may be arranged for groups of four or more by contacting our Tour Coordinator. Hunt Sharks Teeth!
When you see folks walking slowly through the shells along the beach with their head down you'll know they are hunting Sharks teeth.  I've always told people to "look for the blackest thing on the beach" and then check it out to see if it 's a tooth!  But here's some good tips on Trip Advisor to finding Sharks teeth.

Roast an Oyster
Pick up some oysters down at Atlantic Seafood, get some firewood, set out a grill and roast some oysters! All you need from there is some heavy rubber gloves, and oyster knife, saltine crackers, hot sauce and a beverage of your choice. Need me to do all the work?
Contact Me and I'll give you the details.
